The 2024 F-150 and the 2024 Silverado 1500 have several cab choices. Of the largest four-cab models, the 2024 Silverado 1500 edges ahead on sheer space at 139 cubic feet, while the 2024 F-150 is a hair behind, with 136 cubic feet.
Moreover, Ford has engineered some unique features into the 2024 F-150’s cabin. The gear shifter can be folded flat, creating a flat surface between the driver and front passenger seats. Hence, you can place a laptop here and get some work done in the field. When it’s time to relax, the front seats of the 2024 F-150 can be specified with optional fold-flat features. This creates a proper sleeping surface.
Higher trims of these full-size pickup trucks come with power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, and leather upholstery. The 2024 Ford F-150 comes with several versatile powertrains. At the base of the range is a 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6. This makes 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Next up is the renowned 5.0-liter Coyote V8 from the Mustang. Here, it produces 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. There’s also a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 and a PowerBoost hybrid variant with an electric motor.
Some trims also add paddle shifters to the steering wheel to allow the driver to manually select gears, which is helpful in off-roading. 2024 F-150s equipped with the Tremor off-road package are four-wheel drive by default. They also get a locking rear differential and all-terrain tires. Furthermore, the Tremor package upgrades the vehicle’s suspension to provide enhanced off-road performance and comfort.
The 2024 Silverado 1500 comes with four engines, the most powerful of which is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder unit with 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is a 2.7-liter TurboMax 4-cylinder unit producing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
The base engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, while all other engines get a 10-speed gearbox. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while four-wheel drive is optional. Buyers can also choose the ZR2 trim, which adds enhanced suspension and all-terrain tires.
The 2024 F-150 can carry a payload of 2,455 pounds, while the 2024 Silverado 1500 can only carry up to 2,280 pounds. The Ford beats the Chevy in towing capacity, too, with 13,500 pounds against 13,300 pounds. However, all these figures are powertrain and specification-dependent.
The 2024 F-150 and the 2024 Silverado 1500 have plenty of standard safety features. All trims get a full suite of airbags, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Higher trims come with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. Buyers of the 2024 F-150 can also specify a rear-facing camera for trailer monitoring.
